HEY, WHAT'S OUT THERE?

As the pups enter their 3rd week of life, we can't help but notice a huge change within the last 48 hours.  Our wee infant pups have suddenly become little golden puppies with eyes that can see their big world, which for the moment is their whelping box!
In fact, Blue Boy is our No. 1 Escape Artist - he managed to pull himself over the front rail of the box on Sunday night .  As an interim measure, we have erected a cardboard barrier along the front - later we will extend the box with an X-pen.  Here is Red Girl trying to cast an eagle eye outside of the box:

But in the end, somethings never change and home is where the Mama is.

  1. Firecracker Five -- Welcome to the wide world of sights and sounds! How exciting. And mama looks so pleased that you are growing up and issuing your own Declarations of Independence.

  2. I'm going to have to use Firecracker Five - the name is too cute. Wish you could be here to see them in the flesh - they are just precious and too adorable for words. Jim and I just melt when we look at them - which we do a lot of the time.

  3. The look in Blue Boy's eyes is priceless! And Red Girl is really stretching to see what her world looks like. Their fat little bottoms and tubby tails show that Kelly Ann is really delivering, too!

  6. "Firecracker Five" was originally coined by Heidi. She gets the credit. I had called them the "Patriot Puppy Quintet."

  7. Hats of to you all - Great, great names. We have just spent time with our little Yankee Doodles. They were full of mama's good milk and 'vooma' (South African for energy) and were playing with each other - absolutely darling. We were entranced. For now they are plain tuckered out and catching 40 winks.
